Learn how to carve a butter paddle and a wooden spoon using traditional tools and techniques. You can feel good knowing our wood is locally-sourced and sustainably harvested here in the GTA.

” WORKING WITH A STRAIGHT KNIFE AND A PIECE OF LOCAL HARDWOOD IS BOTH A RELAXING AND REWARDING EXPERIENCE!”

WEEK ONE: AN INTRODUCTION TO GREEN WOODWORKING

In this class, you will get acquainted with green woodworking tools and learn how to sharpen and maintain them. You will also carve a butter paddle ( knife ) as you practice knife skills.

WEEK TWO: SPOON MAKING

In this class, you will carve a wooden spoon. In this class you'll learn how to safely rough out a spoon blank with an axe and then refine the shape using the knife skills you started learning in week one. From knife grips to design, you will leave with something you can be proud of.

WEEK THREE: BOWL MAKING

In this class you’ll carve a wooden bowl. This will introduce some new tools and techniques to add to your green woodworking repertoire!

WEEK FOUR: CARVE A KUKSA
