Alfie Shine is a gorgeous blend of the finest waxes, oils and exotic resins, researched and developed by Jim Hendricks for use on his extensive collection of rare and valuable woodworking hand tools.
Many of the commercial polishes available today are soft paste waxes or creams which are bulked out with cheap solvents to increase their volume. Alfie Shine uses only 100% natural ingredients and contains no solvents whatsoever.
Beginning as a personal research project and based on a 17th-century finishing preparation, it continues to be made by hand in small batches, faithfully following Jim’s original recipe.
How to use Alfie Shine:
With a soft cloth or brush for larger areas, apply Alfie Shine in thin coats, as a little goes a long way, to penetrate and nourish dry wood.
With each successive application, the resins build up gradually into a resilient clear protective surface that beautifully enhances the figure of the timber without degrading its patina.
This is traditional finishing, as there are no dryers or accelerants, so you will need to leave a couple of days or so between each application to let everything to harden up.
Keep going and it will develop into an exceptionally intense, rich, and subtle gloss finish.
