Workshop Appliances Course
- Designation: 5-Day Course.
- Date: October 22nd to 26th.
- Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (1 Hour lunch).
- Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced.
- Materials: Included.
- Pre-Requisite: None.
During this 5 day course, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our 10-week Resident Students as we build our workshop jigs and appliances.
Making your own workshop appliances can be both rewarding and practical. You’ll be making a Shooting Board, Winding Sticks, and a set of Shop Bents. Having somewhere to store your project parts as you work will be most helpful.
Using the design from Tom's book, Made by Hand, the shop bents are a great project to refine your skills through dimensioning wood and mortise and tenon construction. Traditional techniques with mallet and chisel, we’ll cover basic mortise and tenons, through mortise and tenons, as well as a half lap joint at the top! At the end of the week, you'll have an arsenal of new joinery techniques, along with a set of shop bents, a set of winding sticks, and an incredibly useful shooting board.
**All students at UW must be 18 years and older to attend.
**Classes are non-refundable 48 hours prior to class.
