Shop Bents & Winding Sticks
October 21st, 22nd & 23rd, 9-5pm
"Workshop Appliance Week" Part 02
This is a three day course where you'll build a set of workshop "Bents". Basically these are a kind of saw horse or rack system we use day in and day out around the woodshop. If you don't have a workshop, they can be used as towel/quilt racks or just an example of mortise and tenon joinery. Once you see the design and learn the skills to make them, you'll be able to use these same techniques on many furniture styles and designs.
Blind, through and open mortise and tenon joinery will be covered. On the third day of the course you'll make a custom set of "Winding Sticks", another great workshop tool when dimensioning wood with hand planes.
This is a three day intensive so we recommend you already have some experience with hand tools. If you've taken our Hand tool or Joinery/Dovetail Bootcamps, then this would be a great class for you.
If you have the entire week available, check out Bench Hooks & Shooting Boards, the first part of this course happening on the 19th & 20th of October.
**All students at UW must be 18 years and older to attend.
**Classes are non-refundable 48 hours prior to class.
