Roubo Parquetry Course
- Designation: 5-Day Course.
- Date: November 19th to 23rd.
- Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (1 Hour lunch).
- Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced.
- Materials: Included.
- Pre-Requisite: None.
During this 5 day course, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our 10-week Resident Students as we create a Roubo Parquetry Panel.
The stock for the parquetry will be cut from hand sawn veneers and traditional methods and jigs will be used to create the 'lozenges'. Each one will be fit to the next creating a beautiful, geometric pattern. You'll then learn about mixing and working with traditional, hot hide glue, which is applied to the parts face-down on craft paper while you assemble your panel. Once complete, you'll glue the panel down to a substrate that you can take home.
You’ll also make a small scale miter-box, a dedicated tool that is necessary for the parquetry work at hand.
**All students at UW must be 18 years and older to attend.
